Earthy® Timber – Manufacturer of Rustic Oak Worktops

Rustic Oak Worktops – Custom Wooden Worktops Directly from the Manufacturer

Earthy Timber is a manufacturer of custom rustic oak worktops that perfectly blend functionality and aesthetics. Our high quality and customer satisfaction sets us apart from the competition.

Handcrafted from exceptionally wide planks that run the full length of the surface, our rustic oak worktops offer a distinctive and natural look, creating the impression of a full tree trunk.

At our manufacturing facility, we harness the power of advanced technology and craftsmanship to create stunning rustic oak worktops. Our team of talented craftsmen meticulously selects the salvaged oak trees, ensuring beautiful appearance and durability.  Each kitchen wood worktop is carefully crafted to size,  to showcase the natural beauty and unique rustic characteristics of oak, providing a timeless and elegant addition to your home or business.

While our luxury furniture range may not fit every budget, we firmly believe that high quality oak worktops should be accessible to all. Our dedication to affordability ensures that we provide competitive pricing without ever compromising on quality. As direct manufacturers, we cut out unnecessary intermediaries, enabling us to deliver exceptional value and pass the savings directly to our valued customers.

If you find rustic oak worktops offered at a lower price than ours, we encourage you to carefully consider the quality and sustainability of the countertops on offer. At Earthy Timber, our wooden worktops are crafted to the highest standards, using responsibly sourced oak and precision techniques to ensure durability and beauty. A lower price may indicate compromises in craftsmanship or ethical sourcing, which are areas we never sacrifice.

Captivating Features of Earthy Timber’s Rustic Oak Worktops

Earthy Timber’s rustic oak worktops are thoughtfully designed to bring out the authentic character and beauty of salvaged wood. Featuring open knots and fissures, some are carefully secured with resin for enhanced structural integrity, while others are left in their raw state to preserve the wood’s rustic charm. This meticulous approach strikes the perfect balance between durability and authenticity, creating visually striking focal points that highlight the natural appeal of natural oak.

For an added touch of rustic charm, you can opt for rustic oak worktops with live edges, which retain the organic contours of the tree. These natural wood edges provide a unique aesthetic that complements traditional and rustic interiors, offering a contrast between the smooth, finely finished oak worktop surface and the raw, unrefined edges.

The distinctive grain variations only found in salvaged rustic oak, along with occasional discolouration, add to the unique charm of each rustic oak worktop. Every reclaimed wooden worktop boasts its own individual pattern and tones, ensuring no two are alike. These natural features reflect the history and character of the salvaged oak, infusing your space with warmth, authenticity, and a sense of timeless craftsmanship.

Rustic oak worktops from Earthy Timber are more than just functional countertops – they are enduring works of natural art. From the resin filled knots and natural fissures to the organic live edges and intricate grain patterns, these wooden worktops celebrate the true essence of oak in its most authentic form.

Modern Resin Infusions in Rustic Oak Worktops

Earthy Timber’s rustic oak worktops are meticulously crafted to size to order to enhance the natural charm of rustic wood while providing a hygienic kitchen surface. The resin filling seamlessly fills charming wood ‘imperfections’.

The high-quality resin infill used by Earthy Timber is a superior alternative to the standard wood fillers commonly used in the wood industry.

Resin infusion technique involves filling  rustic open features of  natural oak with high-quality resin, resulting in a stunning blend of rustic charm and contemporary elegance. The resin infusion not only enhances the durability and longevity of the worktop but also adds a captivating depth and character.

Our super stave full stave wood worktops are designed to bring a modern touch to rustic and contemporary kitchens alike. The combination of the traditional rustic oak and the sleek resin filling creates a stunning contrast that adds character to any kitchen space. With our custom manufacturing capabilities, we can create rustic oak worktops in any size, allowing you to have a truly bespoke and tailored solution for your kitchen.

Custom Size Rustic Oak Worktops

As a manufacturer of custom wood worktops, we understand the importance of providing bespoke options that perfectly fit our customers’ requirements. That’s why we produce our rustic oak worktops to the desired size, to order, eliminating any wastage and saving valuable time for our customers. With this service, customers only pay for what they need, resulting in significant cost savings.

Rustic Oak Worktop Finishing Options

At Earthy Timber, we provide a range of finishing options for our full stave rustic oak worktops, designed to accommodate different preferences and budgets. Here’s a detailed look at what we offer:

Unfinished Rustic Oak Worktop

This is our most cost-effective option and represents a natural stage in the full stave oak worktop’s craftsmanship journey. The unfinished oak worktop is produced to the same high structural and material standards as all of our finished oak worktops and is supplied in a completely raw, unfinished state. These oak worktops feature open knots, fissures, voids, and unfinished edges typical of characterful timber from salvaged trees. Filling of knots or voids using wood filler, resin, or other materials is optional and entirely at the client’s discretion. Extensive sanding, surface preparation, filling (if desired), and the application of a protective finish are the responsibility of the client. This option is best suited to customers who have the tools, experience, and time to complete the finishing process themselves. It is ideal for hands-on individuals looking to fully customise their worktop from scratch, save on finishing costs, and create a truly unique piece tailored to their space.

Sanded Rustic Oak Worktop

Our sanded rustic oak worktops come fully sanded and ready for the application of your preferred finish. This option saves you time and effort on preparation, delivering a smooth, uniform surface that is ready to be tailored to your specific needs.

The sanded finish is also ideal if your rustic oak worktop requires cutouts.  Once all cutouts are completed, you can then apply the finish of your choice on-site. This approach will help prevent any inconsistencies in colour around the cutout areas, ensuring a seamless, uniform appearance throughout.

Important Note about Rustic Oak Worktops That Require Cut-Outs or Size Adjustments: If cut-outs or size adjustments are required on site, choose between an unsanded or sanded rustic oak worktop. The protective finish should be applied only after all alterations are complete.

Finished Rustic Oak Worktop

A finished rustic oak worktop comes ready to install, with the wood sanded and treated with your chosen finish. We offer three professional-grade finishing options: lacquer, oil, and a premium waterproof treatment. Here’s how they differ:

Lacquer, Matt Finish: This clear, protective layer preserves the rustic oak’s natural tones while creating a hardwearing surface. The lacquer enhances the grain without significantly altering the colour, offering a crisp and timeless look.

Oil, Sligt Sheen Finish: An oil finish penetrates deeper layers of the rustic oak worktop, enriching its natural tones and bringing out a warmer, deeper aesthetic. While it enhances the wood’s natural beauty, it requires periodic reapplication with sanding between coats to maintain its appearance and protective qualities.

Premium Waterproof Matt Finish: Exclusively available upon request, this high-performance finish offers superior protection against moisture and wear. Applied in a controlled vacuum environment, it creates a maintenance-free, rich look that deepens the wood’s colour. However, it’s important to note that this finish isn’t compatible with worktops requiring cutouts. Due to its advanced application process and durability, this finish is priced as a premium option – please contact us for a bespoke quote.

For detailed information on finishing stages, available options, and guidance, please refer to the “Finishing” tab located directly beneath the Full Stave Oak Worktop Price Calculator.

If your Kitchen Worktop Project Requires Cutouts or Size Adjustments

If your rustic oak worktop project involves cutouts for sinks, appliances, or other installations, we recommend choosing a sanded-only worktop. This allows you to achieve a consistent finish after the cutouts are completed, avoiding patchy or uneven areas. You or your installer can then apply the chosen finish on-site, ensuring a flawless and harmonious appearance across the entire surface.

Harmonious Design with Matching Rustic Oak Worktop Products

As a manufacturer, we offer a unique advantage of providing customers with the option to purchase matching wooden countertops and tables, allowing for a cohesive and personalised design. Unlike standardised products from general suppliers, our ability to personalise ensures that your space reflects your individual style and preferences.

Rustic wood kitchen worktops offer a multitude of uses in the kitchen, adding warmth and character to any space. As rustic oak shelves, they provide a charming display area for showcasing cookbooks, decorative items, and kitchen essentials. With their natural beauty and durability, rustic wood worktops can also be transformed into a stylish oak home bar table, creating a focal point for entertaining guests.

For those seeking a versatile and functional addition to their kitchen, a rustic wood worktop can be crafted into a kitchen island breakfast bar.  Available in different lenghts, widths and  thicknesses, these kitchen worktops can be customised to suit individual preferences and design aesthetics.

In addition to their versatility, rustic wood worktops can be utilised as a wide window sitting or oak window sill, adding a touch of rustic charm to the kitchen window decor. Their natural texture and grain patterns create a visually appealing backdrop for displaying plants, herbs, or decorative items. Furthermore, these worktops can also serve as a durable and stylish oak kitchen island worktop, providing a sturdy surface for food preparation.

Apart from kitchen applications, rustic wood worktops can be complemented with a rustic oak dining table. With their unique character and varying sizes, they make for an inviting centrepiece in a dining area.

Important Information about Dimensions & Natural Variations

Every solid salvaged wood countertop is individually handcrafted from carefully selected timber planks. Because every tree is unique, we do not simply manufacture to a fixed size – we carefully select the combination of boards that will create the most beautiful and visually balanced finished piece while working as close as possible to your requested dimensions.

In some cases, this may mean your countertop is manufactured slightly longer and/or wider than the dimensions requested. This is intentional and allows us to preserve the natural proportions, character, and visual impact of the timber. A small degree of oversizing is a normal part of the bespoke manufacturing process and should not be regarded as a defect.

If your project has strict dimensional requirements – for example, where the countertop must fit precisely between walls, inside a recess, or against existing cabinetry – you must let us know by adding a note in the Notes to Order section when placing your order. Please specify your minimum and/or maximum acceptable dimensions, or clearly state if the dimensions must be exact. If no such instructions are provided, we will assume there is reasonable dimensional flexibility and will manufacture your countertop as close as possible to your requested dimensions while selecting the most suitable timber to achieve the best overall visual result.

If you choose a live edge or part live edge countertop, please remember that the width will naturally fluctuate along its length, following the original profile of the tree. These natural variations are one of the defining features of genuine live edge timber and are what make every piece completely unique.

If your live edge or part live edge project is restricted by width, you must specify the minimum and/or maximum acceptable width in the Notes to Order when placing your order. If no width restrictions are provided, we will assume you are happy for us to determine the final width, prioritising the natural shape of the timber and the overall visual impact of your live edge or part live edge piece, while keeping the finished countertop as close as possible to your requested size.

Finishing Options for Solid Wood Countertops

Unfinished (Raw) – This is our most cost-effective option and represents a natural stage in the countertop’s craftsmanship journey. The unfinished wooden countertop is produced to the same high structural and material standards as all of our finished pieces and is delivered in a completely unfinished state that requires substantial additional work before installation and use.

Delivered unsanded and untreated, this option features open knots, fissures, and natural voids, along with unfinished, non-smooth edges. As this timber is sourced from salvaged trees, these characteristics are to be expected and form part of its rustic charm.

Any filling of knots or voids –  using wood filler, resin, or alternative materials – is entirely at the client’s discretion and should be guided by personal aesthetic preference and intended use. Some clients choose to retain the open features to preserve the timber’s natural, rustic character, while others prefer a smoother, more uniform surface. Extensive sanding, surface preparation, filling (if desired), and the application of a protective finish are all the responsibility of the client. This worktop is not suitable for immediate use upon delivery.

This option is best suited to customers who have the tools, experience, and time to complete the finishing process themselves. It is ideal for hands-on individuals looking to fully customise their solid wood countertop from scratch, save on finishing costs, and create a truly unique piece tailored to their space.

Please note: tables and desks are only available as fully finished, fully protected products.

Fine Sanding Only (Ready for application of the protective finish of your choice) – Offered at a modestly higher cost than our raw (unfinished) option, the sanded countertop is supplied with a fully sanded, smooth surface that is ready for immediate application of the protective finish of your choice. Prominent natural features are professionally filled using resin or organic fillers to enhance visual appearance while preserving the wood’s natural character. Select features may be intentionally left open where they contribute to the piece’s overall aesthetic and natural charm. This option significantly reduces preparation time and is ideal for clients seeking a refined, semi-finished surface without the labour associated with full raw preparation.

Important note for the countertops that require on-site modifications – if your countertop requires on-site size adjustments or cutouts, you should choose either ‘unfinished’ or ‘sanded only’ option. This is because any pre-applied protective finish will be disrupted during your modifications, resulting in visible inconsistencies. If a pre-finished countertop is cut or altered on-site, the newly exposed, and treated by you areas, will not perfectly match the rest of the surface, leading to noticeable patchiness. To ensure a smooth, even finish, we recommend completing all size adjustments and/or cutouts first, then applying the protective treatment of your choice to the entire surface for a flawless result.

Professional Finishing – if  you want to receive your solid wood countertop ready to be used immediately (please note this option is only suitable for countertops that do not require on-site cut-outs or size adjustments), our in-house finishing service is the right choice. We offer 3 protective finishing options. Our natural oil finish enhances the wood’s natural depth and autumnal tones by penetrating deeper layers of timber. If you prefer to maintain the original light tones and textures, our transparent matt lacquer finish forms a barrier against damage without altering the wood’s natural appearance. For additional durability, you can also upgrade l to our signature, maintenance free waterproof protection (additional costs apply).

Fine sanding + subtle sheen oil

The unique properties of oil gradually enrich the wood’s grain, deepening its natural hues and enhancing its warm, autumnal tones.  As the oil penetrates the deeper layers of the solid wood countertop, it creates a protective effect that helps prevent damage even as the top layer naturally fades over time.

One of the key advantages of an oil finish is its easy maintenance – surface imperfections can be repaired with sanding and fresh re-application. However, oil-finished surfaces are more prone to marking from liquids, making them less suitable for kitchens, bathrooms or utility rooms.

To keep your solid wood countertop nourished and looking its best, regular re-oiling with light sanding between the coats is essential. This finish is ideal for those who appreciate the natural beauty of wood and don’t mind the upkeep required to maintain its charm.

Please note that an oil finish naturally has a subtle sheen and may bring out slightly orangey undertones in the wood – particularly in lighter species such as oak, ash, or elm.

Fine sanding + matt lacquer

Our matt lacquer finish offers natural look while providing a low-maintenance protection for solid wood countertops. As a cost-effective, water-resistant solution, it is ideal for surfaces exposed to moisture, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms, as well as solid wood tables and breakfast bars.

We offer our lacquer in a matt finish as standard, unless a gloss finish is specifically requested. However, we would advise against opting for gloss finish – it tends to highlight every mark and scratch, making it a less forgiving choice over time.

Unlike oil, which deepens the wood’s tones, matt lacquer preserves the wood’s original colour palette while adding a transparent protective layer. The matt finish not only enhances the wood’s natural beauty but also helps conceal scratches and marks, making it a practical choice for everyday use.

Fine sandding + waterproof protection + oil / lacquer – matt finish effect

live edge oak desktop by earthy timber waterproof wood protection

Our exclusive, no-maintenance waterproof protection, developed in-house by Earthy Timber, is applied in a vacuum environment –  a process unavailable anywhere else. This cutting-edge treatment provides the highest level of resistance against scratches, stains, and moisture while preserving the natural beauty and tactile feel of your solid wood countertop.

Designed for heavy-use surfaces such as dining tables and bathroom countertops, this advanced finish is highly resistant to water, heat, alcohol, and food acids. It also features a non-yellowing, UV-protected formula, ensuring your countertop remains flawless for years without the need for reapplication.

With its matt finish, Earthy Timber’s waterproof protection amplifies the wood’s natural grain and tones, adding depth while maintaining its organic beauty. Unlike glossy finishes that may alter the timber’s appearance, our waterproof treatment enhances the wood’s character in a subtle, authentic way.

For those seeking the ultimate protection with zero maintenance, this premium finish is available upon request for an additional cost. To add it to your order, please email us.
