Rustic Oak Dining Table from Earthy® Timber

Rustic Oak Dining Tables directly from the Manufacturer

Maintaining full control over every stage of creation, Earthy Timber is the unique manufacturer behind each of our rustic oak dining tables. From sourcing salvaged oak and on-site vacuum kiln drying, to selecting, shaping, and finishing each individual rustic wood table, every process happens under our roof. This hands-on approach guarantees that the quality, character, and authenticity of each rustic oak dining table are preserved in every piece.

Each rustic oak dining table is a true testament to nature’s artistry, showcasing pronounced grain, stunning fissures, open cracks, and unique knots that make every piece one-of-a-kind. These natural features are not only celebrated but also preserved with modern craftsmanship. Only where reinforcement of stability is required are cracks in your rustic oak dining table filled with organic fillers or securely pinned together with metal, transforming them into striking design elements. The remaining rustic features are left in their natural state when no reinforcement is needed. This approach allows you to connect with the essence of the tree, embracing its earthy charm in your everyday life.

A rustic oak dining table is perfect for those who appreciate the earthy beauty and authenticity of natural wood. For a smoother surface and easier day-to-day maintenance, you may prefer our oak dining tables or river resin oak dining tables, where open knots and voids are filled and enhanced with resin or organic fillers. This creates a seamless, refined finish that’s simple to keep clean while still honouring the wood’s natural character and charm.

Salvaged, Characterful Native Hardwoods for Your Rustic Oak Dining Table

Our rustic oak dining tables are crafted exclusively from salvaged, native oak. Grown slowly in the cooler, harsher climates of England and Europe, this oak develops a tighter grain and greater hardness than fast-growing American or exotic species. Its natural high density enhances durability and resistance to dents while deepening the wood’s visual richness giving each rustic oak dining table a refined, enduring beauty that imported timbers simply cannot match.

We source our oak solely from trees that have died naturally or were felled due to poor health. These mature trees possess unique characteristics that plantation-grown timber cannot replicate. The pronounced grain patterns, open fissures, distinctive knots, and natural discolourations are brought to life by our talented craftsmen into a beautiful composition of a unique yet practical rustic oak dining table.

Our Own Wood Yard is Where Every Earthy Timber Creation Begins

At Earthy Timber, the journey of every rustic oak dining table starts in our very own wood yard –  where we store and nurture carefully sourced salvaged oak. Each salavaged tree is hand-selected for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and unique character that plantation wood simply cannot match. The knots, voids, and intricate grain patterns of salvaged wood tell a story that adds depth and authenticity to every rustic oak dining table we craft. With every step – from sourcing, seasoning and kiln drying the timber to design, crafting, and finishing – completed under the Earthy Timber roof, we ensure that every rustic oak dining table embodies genuine craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless rustic elegance.

On-Site Timber Vacuum Kiln Drying

We have perfected the wood drying process to ensure that your rustic oak dining table remains stable and beautiful for generations to come. All of our timber undergoes vacuum kiln drying on-site, a process that guarantees the highest level of structural stability. This advanced method ensures the wood remains flat, preventing any twisting or warping once it’s in your home. Properly dried timber is crucial; without it, the wood may twist or even introduce woodworms into your space. Our meticulous drying process not only enhances the durability of the rustic oak dining table but also ensures that it behaves predictably, providing a reliable, long-lasting surface that will endure for generations.

Lifetime Guarantee for Earthy Timber’s Rustic Oak Dining Tables

At Earthy Timber, every solid wood dining table is handcrafted from tree to table entirely in-house. This complete control over the process allows us to offer lifetime structural guarantee of each rustic oak dining table – giving you the confidence that your piece is truly a once-in-a-lifetime investment, built to last for generations.

Our rustic oak dining tables are designed not only to be beautiful but enduring. Made with respect for nature, each piece is kind to the environment and easily repurposed – whether you choose to transform it into a breakfast bar table, or desk in the future.

How Many Planks are Used to Create Your Rustic Oak Dining Table?

At Earthy Timber, each rustic oak dining table is crafted from a selection of wide, salvaged oak planks – carefully matched to create a natural, balanced appearance. These characterful rustic oak boards are joined with precision to form a seamless rustic oak table top that highlights the unique beauty of the wood.

For example, a rustic oak dining table around 1000mm in width will typically be made from three to maximum four solid oak planks, while a 700mm wide table will feature two to maximum three. Every piece of reclaimed timber is used thoughtfully to minimise waste, ensuring you only pay for the exact size you order.

The result is a beautifully proportioned rustic oak dining table, alive with grain patterns, medullary rays, knots, and organic variations, authentic character that no engineered material or plantation-grown wood can imitate.

Connecting to Nature – Biophilic Designer Furniture

A rustic oak dining table from Earthy Timber is more than just furniture -it’s an embodiment of biophilic design, a concept that seamlessly integrates the natural world into our living spaces. By bringing the raw beauty and tranquillity of nature into your home, the rustic oak dining table serves as a daily reminder of the outdoors, fostering a deep connection to the natural environment. The organic forms, textures, fissures and tones of the wood are carefully preserved, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that not only enhances your dining experience but also promotes well-being.

By choosing a rustic oak dining table from Earthy Timber, you embrace the authentic charm of natural wood. Each piece celebrates the unique features of solid oak – from open knots and natural fissures to variations in grain and tone. These organic details are intentionally preserved to highlight the timber’s  authenticity and character. While these natural details remain visible, the structural integrity of your rustic oak dining table is fully maintained. When required, our craftsmen incorporate natural wood fillers or subtle metal detailing to enhance both durability and visual harmony.

Oak River Table & Oak Dining Table

For those who prefer a dining table top surface without open features, Earthy Timber offers the option to fill the rustic fissures with resin or organic wood fillers. Our oak river table and oak dining table provide a smoother, more polished finish while still maintaining the character of the wood. These tables are more suitable for those who desire a more ‘polished’ surface, without sacrificing the natural beauty of the oak.

Live Edge Rustic Oak Dining Table

For those who appreciate the raw, untamed beauty of nature, our Live Edge Rustic Oak Dining Table is the perfect choice. Each live edge table preserves the tree’s original silhouette, following its natural curves and contours. The live edge is carefully hand-smoothed, allowing the organic form of the wood to be admired and enjoyed in your home just as nature intended.

Perfectly suited to our rustic oak dining table option, every live edge oak table is a one-of-a-kind creation – a true celebration of the tree’s character, where craftsmanship meets the timeless beauty of the natural world.

The more structured lines of the part live live-edged option give the rustic oak dining table a subtly contemporary appearance – the perfect balance of natural character and modern design.

For those seeking clean lines, rusticity closed in modern form – square edge rustic oak dining is an ideal choice.

Our steel legs (finished raw, matt black or matt anthracite) and solid wood table legs are made to order and individually calibrated to suit each specific countertop construction. This is a truly bespoke service, tailored not only to the dimensions of your solid wood table or solid wood desktop, but also to its unique construction and the natural movement of timber as it expands and contracts in response to changes in temperature and humidity.

This careful engineering helps prevent cracks, warping, and splits in the wood. Combined with our precise vacuum kiln drying process, it ensures furniture of exceptional stability and quality, built to last for generations.

Please note that, for obvious reasons, we are unable to advise on the suitability of legs or support systems sourced elsewhere.

Important Information about Dimensions & Natural Variations

Every solid salvaged wood countertop is individually handcrafted from carefully selected timber planks. Because every tree is unique, we do not simply manufacture to a fixed size – we carefully select the combination of boards that will create the most beautiful and visually balanced finished piece while working as close as possible to your requested dimensions.

In some cases, this may mean your countertop is manufactured slightly longer and/or wider than the dimensions requested. This is intentional and allows us to preserve the natural proportions, character, and visual impact of the timber. A small degree of oversizing is a normal part of the bespoke manufacturing process and should not be regarded as a defect.

If your project has strict dimensional requirements – for example, where the countertop must fit precisely between walls, inside a recess, or against existing cabinetry – you must let us know by adding a note in the Notes to Order section when placing your order. Please specify your minimum and/or maximum acceptable dimensions, or clearly state if the dimensions must be exact. If no such instructions are provided, we will assume there is reasonable dimensional flexibility and will manufacture your countertop as close as possible to your requested dimensions while selecting the most suitable timber to achieve the best overall visual result.

If you choose a live edge or part live edge countertop, please remember that the width will naturally fluctuate along its length, following the original profile of the tree. These natural variations are one of the defining features of genuine live edge timber and are what make every piece completely unique.

If your live edge or part live edge project is restricted by width, you must specify the minimum and/or maximum acceptable width in the Notes to Order when placing your order. If no width restrictions are provided, we will assume you are happy for us to determine the final width, prioritising the natural shape of the timber and the overall visual impact of your live edge or part live edge piece, while keeping the finished countertop as close as possible to your requested size.

Finishing Options for Solid Wood Countertops

Unfinished (Raw) – This is our most cost-effective option and represents a natural stage in the countertop’s craftsmanship journey. The unfinished wooden countertop is produced to the same high structural and material standards as all of our finished pieces and is delivered in a completely unfinished state that requires substantial additional work before installation and use.

Delivered unsanded and untreated, this option features open knots, fissures, and natural voids, along with unfinished, non-smooth edges. As this timber is sourced from salvaged trees, these characteristics are to be expected and form part of its rustic charm.

Any filling of knots or voids –  using wood filler, resin, or alternative materials – is entirely at the client’s discretion and should be guided by personal aesthetic preference and intended use. Some clients choose to retain the open features to preserve the timber’s natural, rustic character, while others prefer a smoother, more uniform surface. Extensive sanding, surface preparation, filling (if desired), and the application of a protective finish are all the responsibility of the client. This worktop is not suitable for immediate use upon delivery.

This option is best suited to customers who have the tools, experience, and time to complete the finishing process themselves. It is ideal for hands-on individuals looking to fully customise their solid wood countertop from scratch, save on finishing costs, and create a truly unique piece tailored to their space.

Please note: tables and desks are only available as fully finished, fully protected products.

Fine Sanding Only (Ready for application of the protective finish of your choice) – Offered at a modestly higher cost than our raw (unfinished) option, the sanded countertop is supplied with a fully sanded, smooth surface that is ready for immediate application of the protective finish of your choice. Prominent natural features are professionally filled using resin or organic fillers to enhance visual appearance while preserving the wood’s natural character. Select features may be intentionally left open where they contribute to the piece’s overall aesthetic and natural charm. This option significantly reduces preparation time and is ideal for clients seeking a refined, semi-finished surface without the labour associated with full raw preparation.

Important note for the countertops that require on-site modifications – if your countertop requires on-site size adjustments or cutouts, you should choose either ‘unfinished’ or ‘sanded only’ option. This is because any pre-applied protective finish will be disrupted during your modifications, resulting in visible inconsistencies. If a pre-finished countertop is cut or altered on-site, the newly exposed, and treated by you areas, will not perfectly match the rest of the surface, leading to noticeable patchiness. To ensure a smooth, even finish, we recommend completing all size adjustments and/or cutouts first, then applying the protective treatment of your choice to the entire surface for a flawless result.

Professional Finishing – if  you want to receive your solid wood countertop ready to be used immediately (please note this option is only suitable for countertops that do not require on-site cut-outs or size adjustments), our in-house finishing service is the right choice. We offer 3 protective finishing options. Our natural oil finish enhances the wood’s natural depth and autumnal tones by penetrating deeper layers of timber. If you prefer to maintain the original light tones and textures, our transparent matt lacquer finish forms a barrier against damage without altering the wood’s natural appearance. For additional durability, you can also upgrade l to our signature, maintenance free waterproof protection (additional costs apply).

Fine sanding + subtle sheen oil

The unique properties of oil gradually enrich the wood’s grain, deepening its natural hues and enhancing its warm, autumnal tones.  As the oil penetrates the deeper layers of the solid wood countertop, it creates a protective effect that helps prevent damage even as the top layer naturally fades over time.

One of the key advantages of an oil finish is its easy maintenance – surface imperfections can be repaired with sanding and fresh re-application. However, oil-finished surfaces are more prone to marking from liquids, making them less suitable for kitchens, bathrooms or utility rooms.

To keep your solid wood countertop nourished and looking its best, regular re-oiling with light sanding between the coats is essential. This finish is ideal for those who appreciate the natural beauty of wood and don’t mind the upkeep required to maintain its charm.

Please note that an oil finish naturally has a subtle sheen and may bring out slightly orangey undertones in the wood – particularly in lighter species such as oak, ash, or elm.

Fine sanding + matt lacquer

Our matt lacquer finish offers natural look while providing a low-maintenance protection for solid wood countertops. As a cost-effective, water-resistant solution, it is ideal for surfaces exposed to moisture, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms, as well as solid wood tables and breakfast bars.

We offer our lacquer in a matt finish as standard, unless a gloss finish is specifically requested. However, we would advise against opting for gloss finish – it tends to highlight every mark and scratch, making it a less forgiving choice over time.

Unlike oil, which deepens the wood’s tones, matt lacquer preserves the wood’s original colour palette while adding a transparent protective layer. The matt finish not only enhances the wood’s natural beauty but also helps conceal scratches and marks, making it a practical choice for everyday use.

Fine sandding + waterproof protection + oil / lacquer – matt finish effect

live edge oak desktop by earthy timber waterproof wood protection

Our exclusive, no-maintenance waterproof protection, developed in-house by Earthy Timber, is applied in a vacuum environment –  a process unavailable anywhere else. This cutting-edge treatment provides the highest level of resistance against scratches, stains, and moisture while preserving the natural beauty and tactile feel of your solid wood countertop.

Designed for heavy-use surfaces such as dining tables and bathroom countertops, this advanced finish is highly resistant to water, heat, alcohol, and food acids. It also features a non-yellowing, UV-protected formula, ensuring your countertop remains flawless for years without the need for reapplication.

With its matt finish, Earthy Timber’s waterproof protection amplifies the wood’s natural grain and tones, adding depth while maintaining its organic beauty. Unlike glossy finishes that may alter the timber’s appearance, our waterproof treatment enhances the wood’s character in a subtle, authentic way.

For those seeking the ultimate protection with zero maintenance, this premium finish is available upon request for an additional cost. To add it to your order, please email us.
