About Our Contemporary Wooden Seats & Sills
Our beautiful bespoke reclaimed wooden window seats and sills are designed and handcrafted to any shape or size from our timber yard and workshop in Plumpton Green, Sussex, just a short distance from Brighton or London. An ideal choice to accessorise and add interest to your desired environment, our unique and interest window seats and sills show off their unique quirky characteristics such as their unique earthy grains and beautiful tones and colourings.
We craft each reclaimed wooden window seats and sill using remnants and offcuts of our earthy English hardwood slabs, which we exclusively source from sustainable forests and woodlands across the UK. We then vacuum kiln dry them timber planks to ensure protection against warping and to ensure they will last for decades to come. We adore the natural imperfections of the timber, such as the knots, cracks and striations, so we in particular look for offcuts that show off these characteristics and infuse them with epoxy resin to create stunning smooth surfaces guaranteeing a quirky and artistic feel.
Our bespoke reclaimed window seats and sills are available to match alongside any of our other furniture, such as our kitchen worktops, islands, breakfast bars, tables, shelving and desks. We can craft your widow sills with the same edging styles as our other solid wooden furniture. We can offer our waney edging for a more rural and rustic appeal, or our straight/ square edging for a modern and contemporary feel. Alternatively, we can offer our mixed edging which combines elements of both edging styles.
Our unique window seats and sills are suitable for home use and with the right finishing choice can be crafted to suit commercial areas too, such as bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and office spaces. We offer two main options for finishing your unique reclaimed wooden surface, either a clear transparent lacquer that acts like a thick shield like barrier, or a colour enhancing oil that perforates the timber create multiple protective layers throughout.
We estimate that each unique reclaimed wooden furniture commission will take around one month to complete, this because we do everything ourselves with no other third parties involved, all under one roof. We also like to ensure that our solid wooden furniture is crafted to the highest quality. We will then contact you to let you know it ready for our dedicated delivery service or for collection from our workshop.
