At Earthy® Timber, we handcraft each solid oak bench with the same precision and care that defines our solid oak dining tables. This is not flat-pack furniture. Every oak bench is made from sustainably salvaged oak, milled, dried, and finished entirely within our family-run business. Being fully in control of every stage of the manufacturing process allows us to guarantee exceptional quality and craftsmanship in every piece.

Custom Oak Bench Built to Fit Your Requirements

Every oak bench is custom made to your exact size requirements. Whether you need an oak dining bench to tuck under your oak dining table, an entryway oak bench seat for pulling on boots; or long, continuous oak bench seating for a busy kitchen, we handcraft it to your measurements.

For comfortable seating, we recommend an oak bench seat width of 350–400mm, with the length entirely up to your preference. The bench comes with leg height options, allowing you to choose the most comfortable overall height based on your needs.

If you would like the oak bench to slide underneath the oak dining table, simply mention this in the order notes when placing your order. For oak dining table and bench sets, we will ensure the benches are made to match your table in design, proportions, and finish for a consistent look.

Each solid oak bench is handcrafted to order in your chosen dimensions, so there’s no need to think in terms of standard sizes – just focus on what feels right for you.

From Salvaged Oak to Finished Bench

We start with whole reclaimed logs from natural or safety fellings in private woodlands and estates, National Trust, parklands, – never from healthy, thriving trees. Many of these logs would otherwise be chopped into firewood. Instead, we mill them in-house, selecting the most ideal boards for your oak bench.

Every oak board is vacuum kiln dried in-house – a process that removes moisture evenly from the inside out, preventing the warping, twisting, or cracking that can happen with cheaper, less precise drying methods. This is why our oak benches stay solid and look beautiful, even after decades of daily use.

Choosing Your Oak Bench Finish

If your oak bench is a standalone item, you can choose any finish that best suits your needs. For oak dining table and bench sets, we recommend selecting the same finish as your table to ensure a consistent appearance.

Our finishes are chosen to protect the oak while letting its natural beauty shine:

• Oak Bench in Oil Finish: Brings out rich grain depth, warm colour, and a tactile feel. Requires regular maintenance.

• Oak Bench in Matt Lacquer Finish: Preserves pale, natural tones with a durable, low-maintenance surface.

• Oak Bench in our Signature Waterproof Finish: Extra protection , maintenance free finish for high-use spaces like family kitchens or cafés.

Oak Bench Edge Profiles

Your oak bench edge is more than a detail – it defines the look and feel of your space

• Square Edge Oak Bench – Clean, crisp, contemporary.

• Live Edge Oak Bench – Follows the natural curve of the tree, softening lines and adding an organic touch.

• Mixed Edge – A mixture of square and live edges

All oak bench edges are smoothed by hand for comfort.

Resin-Enhanced or Organic Oak Bench

Our wooden benches are crafted from salvaged trees, which means every oak bench carries its own unique character. Natural features such as knots, splits, and voids are part of the story of the wood. Some of these may be left open to highlight the beauty of the oak, while others are carefully filled to ensure practicality and durability.

You can choose how these details are finished:

• Resin-Enhanced Oak Bench – Knots, splits, and voids of the oak bench are filled with resin, adding strength while creating striking highlights in the grain. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will use resin fillings

or

• Pure Organic Oak Bench – Only natural fillers are used where needed, preserving the oak bench surface as close as possible to the tree’s natural state. Please state in the notes to your order this is the option you choose.

Certain rustic features may remain unfilled if they enhance the natural beauty and character of the oak bench, provided they do not compromise its practicality or structural integrity. Both resin enhanced oak bench and pure organic oak bench options create pieces that are equally beautiful.

Strong & Stable Oak Bench Legs

Our oak benches are paired with solid, sturdy steel legs designed to ensure stability and reliable performance – so you never need to worry about strength or balance. The legs are available in a wide range of heights to suit your comfort and height.

Our standard solid steel legs provide excellent support and long-lasting durability. If the oak bench will be used regularly by individuals with higher body weight, we may recommend additional supports to ensure maximum stability and comfort. Please let us know if this is the case, and we will suggest suitable solutions (available at an additional cost).

The lead time for an oak bench is typically around 8 weeks. This may be shorter or longer depending on our workshop schedule and the level of customisation required. Because every oak bench is made to order, we take the time needed to ensure each piece is crafted with the care and precision it deserves.
