Home Bar and Commercial Bar Tops Made of Walnut

Custom Commercial and Home Bar Tops in Walnut Wood

At Earthy Timber, we specialise in crafting custom solid walnut bar tops for your home or business that go beyond standard cut-to-size bar options. As timber experts with a focus on high-quality wooden countertops, we create bespoke commercial and home bar solutions designed to elevate your space.

Our solid walnut bar tops are fully customisable to suit a variety of styles, whether you’re designing an elegant home bar or planning to join the bar tops into L-shaped or U-shaped configuration for your restaurant, wine bar or a pub. Choose from beautifully crafted smooth live edge bar designs to highlight the natural tree shape, or opt for square or chamfered edges for a modern bar design. Whether you’re working with a spacious home bar or need a compact floating bar for an office, our custom walnut bar tops are crafted to your required size.

Each bespoke walnut home bar top or oak bar top is meticulously handcrafted to size, ensuring a one-of-a-kind product that reflects exceptional craftsmanship. We use hand-selected, extra wide walnut planks that can span the entire length of the home bar, creating a seamless and organic look. This careful attention to wood grain continuity enhances the natural beauty of the timber countertop, making each commercial or home bar a stunning focal point.

Handcrafted Walnut Wood Bar Tops for Homes, Bars, Restaurants, and Pubs

At Earthy Timber, our handrafted solid wood bar tops are more than just pre-made, cut to size wooden worktops —they are custom designed to perfectly fit your space. We carefully select and position each plank to ensure the wood’s most striking natural features, like grain patterns, knots and unique textures, are showcased in prominent areas of your home bar or commercial bar. This thoughtful layout ensures that the beauty of the walnut wood shines through where you’ll enjoy it most, such as where seated at your home bar or wine bar, creating a stunning centrepiece that brings warmth and elegance to your space.

Custom-Designed Home Bar for Versatile Spaces

Our solid walnut bar tops can be tailored to fit a wide range of bar styles. Whether you’re planning a straight countertop for a home bar setup or joining boards to form L-shaped bar or U-shaped bar configurations for larger commercial spaces, our walnut bar tops offer flexibility and functionality. Each bar top is made to order to your required size, ensuring a perfect fit for your space.

Straight Wood Bar Design: Sleek and Efficient

A straight bar is one of the most common bar designs, perfect for home bars or smaller commercial spaces where simplicity and functionality are key. A wooden straight bar maximises space efficiency and provides a clean, streamlined look, often ideal for contemporary settings or homes with limited room.

Custom walnut bar tops are especially suited for straight bars because their natural beauty shines in this linear format. The long, continuous prominent wood grain patterns are showcased along the full length of the bar top, providing a visual flow that enhances the warmth and character of the timber. Our custom process allows us to craft your wooden bar top to the exact dimensions you need, ensuring a perfect fit, whether it’s a compact home setup or a longer bar for larger venues.

Benefits of a Straight Solid Wood Bar:

Space-Saving: Straight wood bar works well in small spaces

Simplicity: Ideal for minimalist commerical or home designs with a focus on clean lines

Cost-Effective: Generally requires fewer materials and less workmanship and can be easier to install

Uninterrupted Wood Grain: The straight run wood bar highlights the walnut’s rich grain pattern and natural beauty

L-Shaped Wood Bar Design: Practical and Versatile

An L-shaped wooden bar in solid walnut offers more surface area and versatility than a straight bar, making it a great option for home entertainment areas or mid-sized commercial spaces. This L shape configuration provides two working zones, which can accommodate more guests, appliances, or storage.

With a custom walnut bar top, the L-shape design can be laid out to ensure the most beautiful features of the wood are showcased where they’ll be most appreciated—such as the corner where people tend to gather. Each plank is carefully chosen and positioned to complement the layout, ensuring the grain patterns and natural wood details flow seamlessly across both sections of the walnut bar.

Please note this service is available at an additional cost.

Benefits of a solid wood L-Shaped Bar:

Increased Surface Area: L shape bar design provides more space for serving drinks or preparing food

Seating Flexibility: Allows for seating on two sides, encouraging social interaction

Functional Layout: L shape design is great for separating different areas of your home bar (e.g. drink prep vs guest seating)

Showcased Corners: The corner becomes a natural focal point, highlighting the unique features of the walnut wood

U-Shaped Solid Wood Bar Design: Expansive and Grand

For expansive commercial spaces or large home bars, the U-shaped bar design offers maximum surface area and seating capacity. This bar design is ideal for high-traffic venues such as pubs, wine bars, restaurants, or luxury home bars where entertaining is a priority. A U-shaped bar in walnut wood surrounds guests, creating an inviting and interactive experience that encourages conversation from all sides.

When crafting a U-shaped bar design with a custom walnut top, the challenge lies in seamlessly joining the wood planks in a way that maintains the integrity of the grain while highlighting the natural beauty of the walnut. Our team carefully selects and positions the planks to ensure that each section of the U-shape is cohesive and stunning. The result is a show-stopping centrepiece that adds both elegance and practicality to any setting.

Please note this service is available at an additional cost.

Benefits of a U-Shaped Wooden Bar Design:

Maximum Seating: U shaped wood bar accommodates more guests and provides ample surface area

Center of Attention: The U-shaped bar layout creates a central gathering point, perfect for busy commercial venues and large home bars

Seamless Transitions: Custom walnut countertops ensure smooth transitions around corners for a unified, elegant look

Multiple Work Zones: The U shape bar layout supports different work areas for staff or bartenders, enhancing efficiency

Live Edge or Modern Finishes—Choose Your Bar Edge Design Style

When it comes to crafting a bar that not only fits your space but also reflects your design preferences, the edge style of the wood bar top plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the entire area. At Earthy Timber, we offer a variety of bar design options to help you create the perfect aesthetic for your home bar or commercial space, whether you’re aiming for a rustic, organic bar or a sleek, modern design bar top. Our range of options includes the natural elegance of live edge bar tops, the clean lines of square edges, and even hybrid designs that blend the best of both worlds.

Each bar edge style brings its own charm and personality, making it easier for you to tailor your bar to fit either a cosy, country-inspired setting or a chic, contemporary environment.

Live Edge Bar Design: Rustic Elegance with a Natural Touch

A live edge bar retains the natural shape and contour of the tree from which the wood was sourced, highlighting the raw beauty of the walnut. This style is perfect for those seeking to bring a bit of nature indoors, offering an authentic and organic feel. The irregular edges and undulating lines create a sense of warmth and charm, making live edge bars a popular choice for more rustic, country-style homes or commercial spaces looking to evoke a sense of the outdoors.

Each live edge bar is unique—no two pieces are ever the same. The natural curves and knots in the wood are preserved, making it a true centrepiece and conversation starter. This style works well for those looking to add an artisanal touch to their space, combining craftsmanship with the wild beauty of nature.

Live Edge Bar Highlights:

Organic Aesthetic: The natural, unaltered, smooth live edge of the wood brings a rustic charm that softens the look of the space

Unique Features: No two live edge bars are identical, as the natural variations in the wood ensure each piece is one-of-a-kind

Best for Country Settings: Live edge design style pairs beautifully with country or farmhouse-inspired bar designs, adding warmth and an inviting atmosphere.

Contrast with Modern Elements: A live edge wood bar can also serve as a stunning contrast in modern spaces, juxtaposing the raw, organic wood against sleek, industrial design elements.

Square Edge Bar or Chamfered Edge Bar Design: Sleek and Modern Sophistication

For those who favor a cleaner, more streamlined appearance, a square edge wood bar offers sharp, precise lines that are perfect for contemporary or minimalist settings. This edge style creates a polished and structured look, giving the walnut bar a sense of refinement and modernity. A square edge bar top enhances the visual impact of the walnut wood’s natural grain without the organic curves of a live edge, creating a balanced, sophisticated feel.

Square edges work particularly well in modern design spaces, where the emphasis is on simplicity and clean design of the bar top. The straight lines and sharp corners exude a sense of order and precision, making this style ideal for upscale bars, restaurants, or home bars that aim for a more modern, high-end aesthetic.

Square Edge Bar Design Highlights:

Modern Appeal: The sharp, clean lines of square bar edges fit seamlessly into contemporary and minimalist spaces

Sophisticated Look: Square edges give a polished, structured feel that elevates the overall bar design

Versatile for Various Settings: Whether used in a modern home bar or a commercial venue, the square edge offers timeless elegance that complements a variety of décor styles

Maximised Surface Area: The straight edges provide a more efficient use of bar space, with no curves or contours intruding into the bar area

Hybrid Bar Design: The Best of Both Worlds with Live Edge and Square Edges

For those who appreciate the charm of a live edge bar design but also crave the sophistication of clean lines, a hybrid bar top—part live edge, part square edge – offers the perfect solution. This mixed edge bar design marries the organic, natural beauty of the live edge with the structured simplicity of square edges, allowing you to enjoy the best of both styles.

A hybrid solid wood bar top can create a striking visual contrast, where parts of the bar retain the tree’s natural edge, while the other parts are clean and straight. This unique combination can blend traditional and modern elements, making it an excellent choice for spaces that need a touch of both rustic charm and sleek modernity.

Hybrid Bar Highlights:

Balanced Design: The mix of live edge design and modern square-edge creates a harmonious blend of natural warmth and contemporary elegance

Versatility: This style works well in transitional spaces where modern and traditional elements coexist

Unique Visual Contrast: The juxtaposition of organic curves and sharp lines offers a dynamic, eye-catching look

Matching Your Bar Edge Style to Your Space

The edge style of your walnut bar top not only affects the look of your space but also its overall atmosphere. Choosing between live edge, square edge, or a hybrid design depends largely on the interior design vision you have for your space. Here’s how to determine which style works best for you:

Bar Design for Rustic, Country-Inspired Settings

If you’re designing a commercial or home bar for a rustic or country-inspired space, the live edge bar is the perfect choice. Its natural, irregular edges complement the earthy, cosy feel of country homes, log cabins, or farmhouse style interiors. The organic lines of the live edge wood bring a sense of the outdoors inside, making it ideal for spaces where warmth and comfort are prioritised. Pairing a live edge walnut bar top with raw materials like stone, reclaimed wood, or exposed brick can enhance the rustic feel.

Bar Design for Modern, Contemporary Settings

In sleek, modern settings, a square edge bar provides the clean, structured lines that complement minimalist or industrial design. The crisp edges of the bar top echo the sharp angles and smooth surfaces often found in contemporary interiors. For urban apartments, modern restaurants, or luxury home bars, the square edge offers a refined and elegant look that enhances the sophistication of the space. Pairing it with stainless steel, glass, or polished surfaces can further amplify the modern vibe.

Bar Design for Transitional or Eclectic Spaces

If your design aesthetic straddles the line between modern and traditional, a hybrid edge bar might be the perfect fit. The combination of live edge and square edge allows you to create a unique look that balances the raw beauty of nature with the sleek lines of contemporary design. This bar design style works well in spaces that incorporate both rustic and modern elements, providing a seamless blend that feels neither too rustic nor too industrial. A hybrid, part live, part square bar top is also a fantastic way to showcase craftsmanship and attention to detail, as the contrasting edge styles create an artistic focal point.

Perfect Fit for Any Space: From Home Bars to Commercial Venues

Whether you’re working with a large home bar or need a custom fit for a compact floating bar in your office, Earthy Timber’s walnut bar tops are crafted precisely to your specifications. We create solid wood bar tops that fit seamlessly into any environment, offering custom sizing and a choice of styles to suit your specific needs.

Our walnut bar tops can also be designed as floating bars with supports embedded in timber, making them perfect for smaller spaces where a wall-mounted solution adds both style and functionality. This service is available at an additinal cost.

Unmatched Craftsmanship and Quality Control

At Earthy Timber, we take pride in overseeing every step of the manufacturing process. Unlike large scale producers, we handle everything in-house, from timber selection to final finishing. This level of control ensures that each walnut bar top is made from the precisely kiln dried in house wood planks, achieving a moisture content below 10% for ultimate stability. This careful process prevents issues like warping or cracking over time, guaranteeing your commercial or home bar top will stand the test of time, even in high-traffic commercial spaces.

Resin Infill for Added Beauty, Durability and Sustainability in Your Home Bar

At Earthy Timber, we offer a high-end resin infill technique to enhance the natural beauty and longevity of your home bar. This premium process goes beyond standard wood fillers, turning knots and natural voids in the walnut into eye-catching design features. The resin complements the organic character of the wood, resulting in a sleek, continuous surface that’s not only more visually appealing but also far superior in quality and durability.

Choosing resin infill isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s also an environmentally responsible option. By embracing the natural imperfections in the wood, we reduce waste and make the most of each timber slab. Rather than discarding pieces with knots or voids, we fill them with resin, transforming what would traditionally be seen as flaws into standout design elements. This approach honors the integrity of the wood while contributing to a more sustainable way of working with natural materials.

The resin infill process results in a smooth, easy-to-clean surface, as epoxy resin is highly resistant to stains and moisture, ensuring that your bar is not only beautiful but also practical for everyday use. This upgrade offers a combination of refined craftsmanship, superior durability, and an eco-conscious commitment to using the wood to its fullest potential.

Bar Finishing Options: Preserving the Natural Beauty of Walnut

We provide several finishing options to ensure your walnut bar top complements the look and feel of your space:

Oil Finish: This option brings out the rich, organic tones of walnut, creating a natural look. While beautiful, it requires periodic re-oiling to maintain its appearance and is more susceptible to heat marks and stains.

Lacquer Finish: A more durable and low-maintenance option, the lacquer finish forms a protective layer over the wood, shielding it from everyday wear and tear. Ideal for high-traffic commercial bars, it preserves the walnut’s natural beauty while offering an easy-to-clean surface.

Waterproof Finish: Our premium waterproof finish provides the ultimate in protection, making the bar top stain-resistant and hard-wearing. This option is perfect for environments where spills and moisture are common, ensuring that the wood remains pristine over time.

Functional Design: Bar Table Height and Overhang Customisation

For those who wish to purchase a freestanding bar table with a custom height, we offer in-house crafted bar table legs, ensuring your walnut bar table or oak bar table is at the perfect height for your space and seating arrangements. Whether you’re designing a home bar table or a commercial bar height tables setup, we understand that the right height and overhang are crucial for both comfort and aesthetics. At Earthy Timber, we tailor every aspect of the bar table to your specifications, including custom-height legs and precise overhang support (at an additional cost). This ensures both structural integrity and a seamless, stylish look without compromising on comfort or durability.

A typical overhang of 25 to 30 cm offers ample legroom for bar stools, making your walnut bar table not only beautiful but also functional. For larger overhangs, we can discreetly embed support elements within the wood, ensuring durability and stability.

Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Bar Craftsmanship

At Earthy Timber, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We don’t cut down healthy trees to create our beautiful bar tops and furniture. Instead, we use salvaged timber from trees that have naturally reached the end of their life or from unhealthy trees that need to be removed. By repurposing this wood, we ensure that each sustainable furniture we craft is not only stunning but also environmentally responsible. This approach allows us to create unique, high-end furniture while protecting forests and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Luxury Options for the Ultimate Upgrade

For those seeking something truly extraordinary, Earthy Timber offers luxury furniture design options like resin-infused corners or tree bark preservation. These exclusive features are ideal for creating statement pieces that blend art with functionality. Our designer furniture range, created by renowned artisan AS Stawicki, transforms walnut bar tops and tables into works of art that will elevate your space to new heights.

A Bar Top That’s Built to Last

At Earthy Timber, we take pride in overseeing every aspect of the crafting process, which allows us to maintain the highest quality standards. This commitment to excellence has earned us numerous awards for both design and sustainability, making our high-end furniture truly exceptional. Whether you’re furnishing a cosy home bar or a high-traffic commercial venue, our solid walnut bar tops are designed to combine durability with beauty. Each bar top is meticulously crafted to ensure it remains a standout feature for years to come. Experience the warmth, elegance, and timeless appeal of walnut with a custom bar top tailored to your unique needs, knowing it’s made with care, craftsmanship, and sustainability in mind.

Complementary Walnut Pieces for a Cohesive Space

To complement your unique walnut bar top, we offer a range of matching products that extend the cohesive design throughout your space. Consider adding walnut shelves to showcase glassware or decor, or a custom walnut kitchen island that mirrors the beauty of your walnut or oak kitchen bar top, creating a seamless flow in your home. For office environments, our walnut desks and conference tables bring a sense of exclusivity and sophistication to any workspace. A solid walnut conference table, with its natural grain and rich tones, adds a distinctive touch of class to your office, elevating the atmosphere of a large corporate setting with timeless elegance and unmatched craftsmanship.

Important Information about Dimensions & Natural Variations

Every solid salvaged wood countertop is individually handcrafted from carefully selected timber planks. Because every tree is unique, we do not simply manufacture to a fixed size – we carefully select the combination of boards that will create the most beautiful and visually balanced finished piece while working as close as possible to your requested dimensions.

In some cases, this may mean your countertop is manufactured slightly longer and/or wider than the dimensions requested. This is intentional and allows us to preserve the natural proportions, character, and visual impact of the timber. A small degree of oversizing is a normal part of the bespoke manufacturing process and should not be regarded as a defect.

If your project has strict dimensional requirements – for example, where the countertop must fit precisely between walls, inside a recess, or against existing cabinetry – you must let us know by adding a note in the Notes to Order section when placing your order. Please specify your minimum and/or maximum acceptable dimensions, or clearly state if the dimensions must be exact. If no such instructions are provided, we will assume there is reasonable dimensional flexibility and will manufacture your countertop as close as possible to your requested dimensions while selecting the most suitable timber to achieve the best overall visual result.

If you choose a live edge or part live edge countertop, please remember that the width will naturally fluctuate along its length, following the original profile of the tree. These natural variations are one of the defining features of genuine live edge timber and are what make every piece completely unique.

If your live edge or part live edge project is restricted by width, you must specify the minimum and/or maximum acceptable width in the Notes to Order when placing your order. If no width restrictions are provided, we will assume you are happy for us to determine the final width, prioritising the natural shape of the timber and the overall visual impact of your live edge or part live edge piece, while keeping the finished countertop as close as possible to your requested size.

Finishing Options for Solid Wood Countertops

Unfinished (Raw) – This is our most cost-effective option and represents a natural stage in the countertop’s craftsmanship journey. The unfinished wooden countertop is produced to the same high structural and material standards as all of our finished pieces and is delivered in a completely unfinished state that requires substantial additional work before installation and use.

Delivered unsanded and untreated, this option features open knots, fissures, and natural voids, along with unfinished, non-smooth edges. As this timber is sourced from salvaged trees, these characteristics are to be expected and form part of its rustic charm.

Any filling of knots or voids –  using wood filler, resin, or alternative materials – is entirely at the client’s discretion and should be guided by personal aesthetic preference and intended use. Some clients choose to retain the open features to preserve the timber’s natural, rustic character, while others prefer a smoother, more uniform surface. Extensive sanding, surface preparation, filling (if desired), and the application of a protective finish are all the responsibility of the client. This worktop is not suitable for immediate use upon delivery.

This option is best suited to customers who have the tools, experience, and time to complete the finishing process themselves. It is ideal for hands-on individuals looking to fully customise their solid wood countertop from scratch, save on finishing costs, and create a truly unique piece tailored to their space.

Please note: tables and desks are only available as fully finished, fully protected products.

Fine Sanding Only (Ready for application of the protective finish of your choice) – Offered at a modestly higher cost than our raw (unfinished) option, the sanded countertop is supplied with a fully sanded, smooth surface that is ready for immediate application of the protective finish of your choice. Prominent natural features are professionally filled using resin or organic fillers to enhance visual appearance while preserving the wood’s natural character. Select features may be intentionally left open where they contribute to the piece’s overall aesthetic and natural charm. This option significantly reduces preparation time and is ideal for clients seeking a refined, semi-finished surface without the labour associated with full raw preparation.

Important note for the countertops that require on-site modifications – if your countertop requires on-site size adjustments or cutouts, you should choose either ‘unfinished’ or ‘sanded only’ option. This is because any pre-applied protective finish will be disrupted during your modifications, resulting in visible inconsistencies. If a pre-finished countertop is cut or altered on-site, the newly exposed, and treated by you areas, will not perfectly match the rest of the surface, leading to noticeable patchiness. To ensure a smooth, even finish, we recommend completing all size adjustments and/or cutouts first, then applying the protective treatment of your choice to the entire surface for a flawless result.

Professional Finishing – if  you want to receive your solid wood countertop ready to be used immediately (please note this option is only suitable for countertops that do not require on-site cut-outs or size adjustments), our in-house finishing service is the right choice. We offer 3 protective finishing options. Our natural oil finish enhances the wood’s natural depth and autumnal tones by penetrating deeper layers of timber. If you prefer to maintain the original light tones and textures, our transparent matt lacquer finish forms a barrier against damage without altering the wood’s natural appearance. For additional durability, you can also upgrade l to our signature, maintenance free waterproof protection (additional costs apply).

Fine sanding + subtle sheen oil

The unique properties of oil gradually enrich the wood’s grain, deepening its natural hues and enhancing its warm, autumnal tones.  As the oil penetrates the deeper layers of the solid wood countertop, it creates a protective effect that helps prevent damage even as the top layer naturally fades over time.

One of the key advantages of an oil finish is its easy maintenance – surface imperfections can be repaired with sanding and fresh re-application. However, oil-finished surfaces are more prone to marking from liquids, making them less suitable for kitchens, bathrooms or utility rooms.

To keep your solid wood countertop nourished and looking its best, regular re-oiling with light sanding between the coats is essential. This finish is ideal for those who appreciate the natural beauty of wood and don’t mind the upkeep required to maintain its charm.

Please note that an oil finish naturally has a subtle sheen and may bring out slightly orangey undertones in the wood – particularly in lighter species such as oak, ash, or elm.

Fine sanding + matt lacquer

Our matt lacquer finish offers natural look while providing a low-maintenance protection for solid wood countertops. As a cost-effective, water-resistant solution, it is ideal for surfaces exposed to moisture, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms, as well as solid wood tables and breakfast bars.

We offer our lacquer in a matt finish as standard, unless a gloss finish is specifically requested. However, we would advise against opting for gloss finish – it tends to highlight every mark and scratch, making it a less forgiving choice over time.

Unlike oil, which deepens the wood’s tones, matt lacquer preserves the wood’s original colour palette while adding a transparent protective layer. The matt finish not only enhances the wood’s natural beauty but also helps conceal scratches and marks, making it a practical choice for everyday use.

Fine sandding + waterproof protection + oil / lacquer – matt finish effect

live edge oak desktop by earthy timber waterproof wood protection

Our exclusive, no-maintenance waterproof protection, developed in-house by Earthy Timber, is applied in a vacuum environment –  a process unavailable anywhere else. This cutting-edge treatment provides the highest level of resistance against scratches, stains, and moisture while preserving the natural beauty and tactile feel of your solid wood countertop.

Designed for heavy-use surfaces such as dining tables and bathroom countertops, this advanced finish is highly resistant to water, heat, alcohol, and food acids. It also features a non-yellowing, UV-protected formula, ensuring your countertop remains flawless for years without the need for reapplication.

With its matt finish, Earthy Timber’s waterproof protection amplifies the wood’s natural grain and tones, adding depth while maintaining its organic beauty. Unlike glossy finishes that may alter the timber’s appearance, our waterproof treatment enhances the wood’s character in a subtle, authentic way.

For those seeking the ultimate protection with zero maintenance, this premium finish is available upon request for an additional cost. To add it to your order, please email us.
