Live edge oak worktops are manufactured entirely in-house. These natural wood worktops are built using full stave, wide planks of oak for strength, continuity of grain, and a genuinely premium feel. Earthy Timber works exclusively with oak trees that has died of natural causes or have been felled for safety reasons, ensuring no healthy trees are cut. This approach allows the natural story of the tree to remain visible in every live edge oak worktop.
The live edges of the oak worktop, also known as waney edges, follow the original shape of the tree and preserve its natural contours. These natural oak worktop edges are carefully hand-smoothed, then the surface open features are selectively infused with epoxy resin where required to stabilise natural features such as knots, splits, and voids. This process creates distinctive rustic–modern details that reflect both the beauty and the challenges of the tree’s life, while ensuring the live edge oak worktop remains durable, hygienic, and suitable for daily use.
All Earthy Timber live edge oak worktops are made using vacuum kiln dried oak planks, dried in-house to achieve consistent moisture content and forever stability.
